Dinamalar launches iPhone & iPod touch apps

Dinamalar, World’s No.1 leading Tamil Daily Newspaper & No. 1, Indian Publication Portal unveiled its iPhone & iPod app today. The first Tamil publication to be present on iPhone and iPod, Dinamalar’s app has been created with the latest technology to ensure that users have a great experience, accessing news on the go.

Built to offer superior functionality, which promises faster news dissemination, Dinamalar’s app gives readers access to news from around the world, India and Tamil Nadu. Covering various fields of interest from business, cinema, sports to astrology, the app also features a NRIs news section, Live and recent Cricket updates and photo and video content, which will ensure rich reading experience, both on the iPhone and iPod Touch.

While remaining focused on enabling its readers to have unending access to news when it happens, the key feature of Dinamalar’s app remains its ability to support and ensure enhanced interactivity. The app not only allows users to share news and updates on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter and also through email, but in addition it even provides readers with the option to share their comments.

Talking about the reason behind Dinamalar choosing to make inroads into the mobile space, Adimoolam Lakshmipathy, Executive Editor, Dinamalar, stated, “People are always on the move today and moving into the mobile space was a natural progression. For decades now Dinamalar has been acknowledged as a pioneer in various dimensions and the move to create an iPhone & iPod, is just an extension of our commitment to keep people informed 24x7.”

Speaking about its association with Dinamalar Rohith Bhat, MD & CEO, Robosoft stated, “Developing the iPhone & iPod app for Dinamalar was an incredible experience. Being a leading Tamil daily newspaper with far-reaching regional presence the development process entailed a whole set of challenges but our team was able to design the App which delivers Dinamalar’s content to its readers through its intuitive user interface.”

For a publication portal that attracts more than 20 million visitors in a month, this new addition is sure to further catapult the number of hits receives in a day. Stats even record that the news website holds a commendable 89 per cent share of the total online Tamil news websites’ traffic. While has much more new interesting plans in the pipeline, the new iPhone & iPod app couldn’t have come at a better time. With users remaining connected and expressly craving instant relevant information gratification, Dinamalar’s new app seems to be just the perfect solution for readers who look for real time information delivered on the go.

Further enumerating this philosophy Adimoolam Lakshmipathy, Executive Editor, New Media Balasubramanian, Head, Marketing (New Media),, “Dinamalar’s leadership position online is an undisputed fact. While our continued top position is a great initiator of our top-notch innovations, the publication’s move to create iPhone & iPod apps was more a necessity, in answer to our dedicated users’ demands. With holding a majority share of online traffic in Tamil News readers, we felt compelled to ensure that our readers have enhanced all-time access to the real-time news that we provide no matter where they are.”

With 2011 turning into a year of ground-breaking innovative news dissemination strategies for the leading Tamil publication website ( had launched specific Microsites for the recently concluded World Cup and ongoing IPL season 4), it sure remains to be seen what more will be launched in the coming months. While not much information has been let out by the publication mogul about its next set of innovations, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if the next launch turns out to be another pioneering effort by the Publication.
