92.7 BIG FM kicks off its eight edition of the BIG Green Ganesha. The campaign was laid down in 2008 with the vision for a better eco-friendly future.
BIG Green Ganesha aims at creating social consciousness towards making one of India’s largest and most popular festivals, ecologically sound. The campaign spans across 15 major cities this year including Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Goa, Sholapur, Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Surat, Baroda, Mysore, Tirupati, Vizag, Chennai and Mangalore.
With a paper collection drive underway, the radio network has started the process of collecting tons of newspapers and other paper products from residential areas, celebrity houses, corporate offices, shops and other commercial establishments. These will be shared with renowned sculptors from across the country to enable the creation of beautiful and artistic eco-friendly Ganesha idols through techniques of paper mache and clay molding.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashwin Padmanabhan, Chief Operating Officer, Reliance Broadcast Network stated, “BIG Green Ganesha is our marquee property; the largest social campaign we have initiated that has now become a trend in India. It gives me great joy to announce that it is the eighth year of the campaign and the love and support we have received from the people has been tremendous, gearing us up to deliver more. We are growing from strength to strength each year and we hope to receive as much support from citizens and our partners alike so we can make this initiative bigger and greener each year.”
On-ground engagement for the campaign will include rallying calls to listeners to put their respective cities on a record-breaking path. RJs will provide listeners with daily updates on the collections and locations of the 92.7 BIG FM carts that will travel around each city. Celebrity endorsements will also lead the way to spreading the message amongst their fans.
The BIG Green Ganesha has won various accolades for its work over the years including the prestigious India Radio Forum Excellence in Radio Award and Golden Mikes.
With a 360 degree approach in marketing and digital activities, the radio network will create surround sound about the initiative on all their digital platforms along with special vignettes of Bal Ganesha promoting eco-friendly celebrations and more to up the scale of campaigning this year around. On the digital front, 92.7 BIG FM will be doing an exhaustive digital campaign on Facebook and Twitter wherein they will invite people to take a pledge to use eco friendly Ganesha idols with #BIGGreenGanesha.
