He has joined ETC Music as Vice-President – National Sales with effect from December 1, 2005. He reports to the Business Head of the channel, Vikas Gupta. Rakshit brings with him ten years’ experience in sales and marketing in organisations like The Times of India, Channel 4 FM Radio UAE and Aaj Tak.
Sameer Kumar, Executive Editor, Auto Monitor, has put in his papers after a year and a half. He will be joining the Indian edition of CAR, a UK-based automotive monthly, as Executive Editor. CAR came to India a few months back in tie-up with Next Gen Publishing. Kumar will be also Executive Editor of Bike India, another publication from Next Gen. He began his career with Chip magazine in 1998. From there he moved to CNET India. After a brief stint, he moved to Indian Auto as Executive Editor, the first B2C auto magazine in India.
Prasad Amin, Chief Manager, International Marketing division of Indian Express, is moving to BQ Media after a four-year stint. He is joining as General Manager and will be based in Dubai. He will overlook sales and be responsible for new business avenues, events and projects besides getting new titles for the group. Amin has 14 years of experience and has also worked with Business Standard for five years.
Firoz Karmalawala, Films Controller at Leo Burnett, Mumbai, has decided to move on after a six-year stint. He is joining the in-house films department at JWT, Mumbai, as Director, Audio-visual Services. He will report to Agnello Dias. Karmalawala started his career in 1995 with FCB Ulka’s in-house films division, Nebula, and moved to Leo Burnett after four years. In his 10-year career in filmmaking, he has made films for brands such as Heinz, Complan, Whisper, Tide, Zero and Rejoice shampoo.
Motorola Inc. has appointed Firdose Vandrevala as Head, Motorola India, and Corporate VP, Motorola Inc. Vandrevala moves from his position as Chairman, Tata Teleservices. Prior to that, he was MD, Tata Power, and deputy MD, Tata Iron and Steel. Vandrevala will be based in Mumbai. Amit Sharma, VP (Regional Management), South & South-East Asia, Motorola Inc., who also served as Country President for India, will move into an expanded regional role involving corporate strategy for Asia.
