Advertising trend in Print medium in Q1 of 2006 – Part 2: AdEx study

Key Findings:
• In 2005, advertising in Sports Magazines got a push of 3% compared to 2004

• ‘Publication/Books’ constituted the top category in advertisements in Sports Magazines in 2004 and 2005

• ‘Hewlett Packard India’ contributed 5% of advertising in Sports Magazine in 2005

• ‘Add-on Promotions’ in Sales Promotions took up the largest chunk of advertising in Sports Magazines with 53% share

As the FIFA fever takes over the nation, AdEx India browses through Sports magazines to see the advertising trends in 2005 and compare that with previous years.

In 2005 there was a meagre rise of 3% in ad volumes in Sports Magazines 2004

Top 10 categories in Sports Magazines across 03-05
‘Publications/Books’ stayed No.1 in 2004 as well as 2005. ‘Corporate/Brand image’ remained at 3rd position throughout the years.
Interestingly, the rank of Sports goods/accessories moved up from 8th to 5th in sync with the environment.


Top Spenders advertising in Sports Magazines in 2005

‘Hewlett Packard India’ contributed a significant 5% share to advertising in Sports Magazines, followed by ‘LG Electronics India’ and ‘Planman Consultant India’ with 4% share each.

Brands advertised exclusively in Sports Magazine in the year 2005

‘Tata Indicom Broadband’ was the top ranking exclusive brand, and ‘Nanhe Samrat Magazine’ was right behind in second position

New brands introduced to advertising in Sports Magazines in ‘06

‘LG Slimagic’ was the top ranking new brand in Sports Magazines, whereas ‘Fusion Books SMS Joke Book’ was ranked second.

Black & White ads got 9% share of total ad volume in Sports Magazines in 2005.

Promotions used to woo Sports enthusiasts in 2005

‘Add-on Promotions’ garnered the highest share of 53%, ‘Price Promotion’ took up 27% share.
