Overview of TV channel promotions on Print in H1 2007: AdEx study

 

Highlights:

• 18% dip in TV Channel Promotions on Print in H1 ’07 compared to H1 ’06

• Ratio of Promotion of Channels: Programs is 23:77 respectively in H1 ’07

• Approx. 80% of promotion by National TV Channels

• Publications from West & North Zone had the maximum share of promotion

• Newspapers saw high ad volumes in ‘General Interest’ genre; In magazines max. advertising registered in ‘Media & Advertising’ genre

• 3 of the Top 10 new programs promoted on Print in H1 ’07 belong to Drama/Soap genre

• On an average, approx. 48 ads per day by TV channels in Newspapers

Advertising by TV Channels on Print


• 18% dip in TV Channel Promotions on Print medium in H1 '07 over H1 '06

Channel vs. Program Promotions on Print


• Post 2002, a steady trend of advertising was registered by Promotion of TV Channels and Programs on Print


• H1 07 saw approx. 4 times rise in number of Program promotions on Print compared to year 2002
Promotions by National & Regional channels on Print in the first half of 2007



• National channels (with approx. 80% of ad volumes) advertised with 55% of overall brands on Print in H1 ‘07 however Regional channels had a share of 45%

Zone wise share of TV Channel Promotions in Print


• Maximum usage of ad volumes by both TV Channels and Programs in the publications from West and North zone in H1 ‘07

• West zone saw high advertising by newly launched Marathi channel -‘Star Majha’

Publication Genres used for TV Channels Promotions during H1’ 2007
• Newspapers saw approx. 80% of advertising by Programs whereas 60% of volumes by TV Channels

• In magazines, more than 55% of volumes in ‘Media & Advertising’ genre (nearly equal volumes by TV Channel & Programs)

New programs advertised on Print
• Overall 305 new programs were promoted on Print during H1 ’07

• Out of Top 10, 2 of the new Drama/Soaps programs were from Hindi GEC and 1 from Regional GEC

• Also, 2 of the new programs belong Event/Award/show genre

Avg. Ads per day by TV Channels in Newspapers during H1’ 2007
• Newspapers recorded an average of 42 ads per day by TV Programs and 6 ads per day by Channels in the first half of 2007 compared to 48 ads per day by Programs and 10 ads on an average by Channels in H1 06
