Over the past few weeks, we have been analyzing the Automotive Sector. We have brought to you the top advertisers and brands in the Cars/Jeeps and Two Wheelers, the two biggest categories in this sector. But, how good is a Car or a Motorcycle without its Tyres? It's time to look at advertising in the Tyres category. The following graph shows the top advertisers on Print in this category in 2003.

MRF is the top advertiser in this category on Print accounting more than 60% of the advertising spends in this category. JK Tyres and Birla Tyres are a distant second and third with their shares around 10%-12%. Apollo Tyres is ranked fourth at 8%. All the other advertisers have shares of 1% or less.

Let's compare this with 2002.

The graph shows that Year 2002 was no different from 2003. MRF dominated in 2002 too. JK Tyres and Birla Tyres swap their positions.

Let's look at the Top Brands in terms of share of advertising expenditure in 2003.

The graph shows that MRF is all over the Top Brands in the Tyres category on Print in 2003. Six of the Top 10 Brands belong to MRF. MRF Super Lug Fifty was the top brand accounting for nearly 22% of the spends. MRF ZVTS, MRF Nylogrip Zapper, MRF Racing, MRF Tyres and MRF Events are the other brands from MRF featuring here. Birla Tyres and Apollo Tyres rank third and fourth respectively. JK Jet-Trak and JK Truck Radials rank 9th and 10th respectively.
