Financial industry’s advertising in print up 10pc in FY08

Highlights:

• Print advertising of 'Financial Industry' up by 10% during FY 2007-08 compared to FY 2006-07.

• ‘Banking & Financial services' segment had the largest share of 63% of 'Financial Industry' in Print during FY 2007-08.

• ‘SBI' was the number one advertisers in 'Financial Industry' advertising in Print during FY 2007-08.

• Metro and Non Metro Newspaper together accounted for 90% of overall Financial brands advertising during FY 2007-08.

Compared to FY 2004-05, Financial Industry advertising saw a growth of 20% in Print during FY 2007-08.

With 63% share, 'Banking & Financial Services' leads among the segments of ‘Financial Industry’ followed by ‘Others*’ and ‘Insurance sector’ with 22% and 15% share respectively during FY 2007-08.

Volume Growth in sub - segments of Financial Industry





During FY 2007-08 ‘Others*’ segment recorded maximum growth in its ad volumes in Print (23%) compared to FY 2006-07.

‘Banking & Financial Services' witnessed 9% growth in Print advertising during FY 2007-08 over FY 2006-07, whereas 'Insurance sector' saw a drop of 1%.

Positioning of Sub segments of Financial Industry in Print during FY 2007-08




2 out of the Top 10 Sub segments of 'Financial Industry' maintained their respective ranks in FY 2007-08 over FY 2006-07. Viz. 'Public Issues' and 'Credit Cards'.

‘Health/Accidents General Insurance' and 'General Insurance' had moved up maximum place to be in Top 10 list of sub segments of 'Financial Industry' during FY 2007-08 compared to FY 2006-07.

 


Top Advertisers of Financial Industry in Print during FY 2007-08


Top 10 advertisers share aggregates to 30% of overall ‘Financial Industry’ ad pie in Print during FY 2007-08.

‘SBI' with 10% share lead in 'Financial Industry' advertising in Print followed by 'Life Insurance Corporation of India' and 'ICICI Bank Ltd' during FY 2007-08.


Top Brands of Financial Industry in Print



Top 10 Financial brands share aggregates to 14% of overall 'Financial Industry' advertising share in Print during FY 2007-08.

Public Issues of 'DLF ','Emaar MGF', 'Reliance Power' and 'Omaxe Ltd' made it to the Top 10 brand list of 'Financial Industry' during FY 2007-08.

Newspapers and Magazines were used by the Financial Industry in an advertising ratio of 96:4.


Share of Financial Industry (Metro/Non Metro and Mini Metro Newspapers)



Metro Newspapers lead with 48% advertising share of financial brands followed by Non Metro and Mini Metro Newspapers with 41% and 10% share respectively.
