Watches advertising in Print rises 7% in H1 2005 compared to H1 2004: AdEx study

Key Findings:
• Wrist Watches advertising spends in 2004 was approximately twice that in 2000.
• 7% rise in Print advertising in 1st half of 2005 compared to 1st half of 2004.
• Citizen tops the advertiser list in Print in the 1st half of 2005.
• Ad spends in Newspapers/Magazines is in 56:44 ratio
• National magazines and Maharashtra newspapers are the choice of advertisers.

This week, AdEx India looks at the ‘Wrist Watches’ category. Let’s take a look at the growth in Wrist Watches advertising spends during the years 2001-04 in Print medium.

 


 

• If we compare the advertising spends in Wrist Watches in 2004 compared to 2000, we observe an 88% growth

Let’s see if the category advertising spends in the 1st half of 2005 have increased compared to spends in the 1st half of the previous year in Print? The chart below gives the answers.


• Mere 7% rise in advertising spends in the 1st half of 2005 compared to the 1st half of 2004

Let’s look at the Top 5 Wrist Watch advertisers, along with their brands advertised in Print during the 1st half of 2005.


• Citizen tops advertising with 22% share in the 1st half of 2005
• Titan Industries is in 2nd position with 16% share

Which were preferred more by Wrist Watch advertisers -- Newspapers or Magazines -- in the 1st half of 2005? The pie chart below gives the answers.


• 56% of ad spends went to Newspapers
• Magazines got 44% share

Lastly, publications of which state were preferred by Wrist Watch advertisers in the 1st half of 2005?


• As usual, National magazines were the choice
• Among Newspapers, Maharashtra publications got the maximum ad spends followed by Delhi
