Analysis of Corporate Advertising in Print during Jan-Oct 2006: AdEx study

Key Findings:
• 12% growth in Overall Corporate ad volumes in Jan-Oct ’06 over Jan-Oct ’05 in Print

• ‘General’ category garnered a huge 89% share of Corporate advertising in Jan-Oct ‘06

• Northern publications had the highest share of Corporate ads

• Advertisers focused on General and Business newspapers and magazines for Corporate advertising

• ONGC topped Corporate advertising in newspapers while Amway India led in Magazines

• Suzlon Energy had the maximum number of innovative ads


This week AdEx India looks at the trend in ‘Corporate advertising’ in Print during the period of Jan-Oct 2006. (Note: The entire analysis is based on Volumes in Column Centimeters)

• 12% rise in advertising volumes of Corporate advertising in Print in Jan-Oct ‘06 over Jan-Oct ‘05
Share of sub-categories in Corporate advertising in Print in Jan-Oct ‘06



• A huge share of Corporate advertising was in the ‘General’ category in Print
• ‘Computer’ category in Corporate advertising had 5% share

Contribution of Zone in Corporate advertising in Print during Jan-Oct ‘06



• North zone contributed the maximum 28% share in overall Corporate advertising per edition in Jan-Oct ‘06
• South zone followed closely with 26% share
Genres used in Corporate advertising in Newspapers & Magazines in Jan-Oct ‘06

• Highest share of Corporate advertising in General Interest genre of newspapers followed by Business newspapers in Jan-Oct ‘06
• In Magazines, advertising skewed towards General Interest and Business genres

• Newspapers saw maximum advertising by ONGC, Sahara India and Khadi & Village Industries Commission with nearly equal 3% share in Jan-Oct ‘06
• In Magazines, Amway India led with 8% share

Top Common Brands in Corporate ads in Newspapers & Magazines in Jan-Oct ‘06



• ONGC topped the Common brands list, who advertised in newspapers as well as in magazines in Jan-Oct ‘06
• Khadi Gramodyog in 2nd position among common brands in Corporate advertising
Brands using Innovative ad layout for Corporate advertising in Jan-Oct ‘06


• Suzlon Energy had maximum number of innovative ads in Jan-Oct ‘06 followed by Sujana Group
