Advertising in the Two-Wheeler category on Print decreases by
a negligible 3% in first half of 2004 compared to first half
of 2003 : An AdEx India Analysis

· Bajaj Auto is the top advertiser for H1 2004 on Print
Medium for Two Wheeler category.
· The top brand for Two Wheeler Category on Print Media
is Bajaj Pulsar DTS-I for H1 2004.
After the analysis
on Commercial Vehicles category last week, AdEx India brings
to you an analysis on the Two Wheeler category. First, let’s
have a look at the trend of Print advertising in the first
half of year 2004 compared to the first half of year 2003.

In the above graph, the
Spends on Print media have been indexed to those of the year
2003. The graph tells us that Print Advertising shows a negligible
drop by 3% in the first half (January-June) of 2004 as compared
to the same period last year
We now take a look at the top advertisers for the first half
of the year 2003 & 2004:

| The above
table compares the Top 5 Advertisers in Print in this category
for the first halves of 2004 and 2003. Looking at the graph
it becomes clear that apart from some shuffling in the positions,
the same advertisers manage to be in the top 5 slots for the
first half of both the years. By having a share of 36% and
30% advertising in H1 2004 and H1 2003 respectively, Bajaj
Auto maintains the top position in both the years. TVS Motor
Company goes up one position in 2004 and occupies the 2nd
Place having a share of 23% in H1 2004. Hero Honda Motors
Ltd, which featured on the 2nd position in H1 2003, climbs
down one place in H1 2004 by having a share of 14%.
This leads us to take a look at the top brands for the first
half of the year 2004:

Bajaj Pulsar DTS-I was the Top Brand in the
Two Wheeler category in Print Advertising for H1 2004 with
a 36% share of advertising. TVS Motor Company had two brands-TVS
Victor and TVS Victor GL amongst the Top 5 brands in H1 2003
at the 4th and 5th place respectively. In H1 2004 though,
it has only brand TVS Centra VT-I featuring at the 2nd position.
LML Freedom and Hero Honda Motorcycles slip down from the
2nd and 3rd position in H1 2003 to 3rd and 4th position in
H1 2004.
