Print ad volumes of Travel & Tourism sector has dipped by 11% in 2007 compared to 2006.


Quarterly advertising share of Travel & Tourism sector



During the 1st half of 2007, 51% more advertising of Travel & Tourism sector in Print compared to the 2nd half of the same year.




Zone wise share of Travel & Tourism sector




During 2007, Publications from West Zone had the largest share of Travel & Tourism ad pie i.e. 40% share.

Publications from the South and North zone together contributed 50% share of overall Travel & Tourism advertising in Print. Where South had 26% share followed by North with 24% share.


Newspapers and Magazines were used by the Travel & Tourism sector in an advertising ratio of 93:7.


Top 10 Cities of Travel & Tourism sector





Top 10 Cities share aggregates to 56% share of overall Travel & Tourism advertising share in Print during 2007.

Among the cities 'New Delhi' and ‘Mumbai’ had close competition for the 1st position with marginal difference in their share followed by National and Pune with 5% and 4% share respectively.

3 out of Top 10 advertiser in 2007 maintain their position compared to 2006 viz. 'Kesari Tours', 'Raj Travels & Tours Ltd' and 'Kerala Tourism Development Corporation'.

During 2007, among the Top 10 position 4 advertisers belonged to Government*Tourism Department.

New Brands advertised under Travel & Tourism sector in Print



During 2007, 3 brands of 'Kesari Tours' were among the top 10 list of new brands of Travel & Tourism launched in Print.

4 of the top 10 new brands were of Government* Tourism Department to promote the events of their respective states.

Analysis of type of Advertisements used in Travel & Tourism sector



Nearly 55% share of Sales Promotional ads were based on ‘Discount Promotion’ followed ‘Contest Promotion’ and ‘Multiple Promotion’ with 19% and 13% share respectively during 2007.
