Print advertising of two-wheeler sector dips 18% in Q1 2005 compared to Q1 2004: AdEx study

Key Findings:
• 18% dip in Press advertising in Q1 ’05 compared to Q1 ’04.
• Advertising in 2004 observes a mere dip of 0.4%.
• ‘Bajaj Auto’, the top advertiser in Q1 ‘05.
• Newspapers, the thrust of Advertisers.

Auto Sector is divided in 3 sections ‘Two Wheelers’, ’Cars/Jeeps’ & ‘Commercial Vehicles’. This week, AdEx India looks at ‘Two Wheelers’ category. Below is the growth of advertising in press in the 1st quarter of 2005 as compared to that of 2004 .

 


• 18% dip in advertising in Q1 ’05 compared to Q1 ’04.

Below is the growth of ‘Two Wheelers’ advertising in press across the years 2001-04.


• Advertising dips 0.4% in 2004 compared to 2003.
• Highest growth in 2003 (46%) across the last 4 years .

The table below shows the top advertisers in press in 1st quarter of 2005.


• ‘Bajaj Auto’ tops advertising in the 1st quarter of 2005.
• 97% of advertising spends contributed by top 5 advertisers in the 1st quarter of 2005


Do these ads appear more in Newspapers or Magazines?.



• 97% of ads in Newspapers whereas Magazines gets 3% share.
