CyberMedia India, Asia’s largest specialty publisher, has recently announced a restructuring exercise. The objective of the exercise is said to be directed at creating a common team along with integration of the online and event businesses with the print media brands. The changes will be effective from August 15, 2009.

Elaborating on this, Pradeep Gupta, Group Chairman, CyberMedia India, said, “This move will consolidate skill sets and increase synergy across our multiple brands, and will be created from the present teams like print and circulation services (PCSD), production, event logistics in ICT, and Cybermedia India Online Ltd. It will provide enablement, facilitation, support services for ICT completely and for SMG on a selective basis.”

In a significant development, Hoshie Ghaswalla, President - Publishing, CyberMedia India, will now move to the ICT media group to head the sales and support activities. He will report to the Executive Board.

On his new role in the organisation, Ghaswalla told exchange4media, “The changes we are making are in line with creating a futuristic media business. Readers are becoming medium agnostic and do not care from where they get their information. What we will ensure is that our readers get their dose of information and news they need, when they need it, where they need it, how they need it and how much they need. Likewise for advertisers and sponsors, who want more and more ROI, and we are moving towards serving them communities and not just simple inventory.”

Rachna Garga, Vice-President, CyberMedia India, will now look after audience development, brand development for audience acquisition, production and logistics. The print production and circulation logistics for SMG brands would also be supported by her group as at present. She will report to Hoshie Ghaswalla.

Asim Raina, Senior Vice President, Cybermedia Services, will move to CMSL. He will be responsible for all activities of this business unit and will report to Ram Capoor.

R Anil Kumar will take over as the Head of Sales for the ICT media group, in addition to his current role. He will report to Hoshie Ghaswalla for the sales and marketing activities and commercial areas.

The technology upgradation for online activities will be handled by PK Roy, Chief Editor and President, IT Publications.

The announcement also mentioned that the organisational changes were being worked in a phased manner and that other changes would be announced progressively to ensure that shift occurred with minimal disruption of operations.

CyberMedia is South Asia’s a leading specialty media house, with 15 publications in the information technology, telecom, consumer electronics, and biotech areas. The publications include ‘BioSpectrum’, ‘Dare’, ‘Dataquest’, ‘PCQuest’, ‘Voice&Data’, ‘Global Services’, and ‘Technology Review’, among others. The group has a media value chain including Internet (www.ciol.com), events, and television. Its media services include market research (IDC India), content management and multimedia.
