zeotap expands India operations

zeotap, a premium mobile data collective providing high-quality customer insights for digital marketers, today announced the expansion of its India operations.

zeotap was founded in 2014 by senior executives from advertising, tele-communications and tech companies such as IBM, Vodafone and Fyber (RNTS Media). Within just two years, zeotap has grown to a team of over 50 with offices in Berlin, Bengaluru and New York, and additional presence in Madrid and Milan. Earlier this year, the company announced a €12M Series B funding round from prominent investors including New Science Ventures (NSV), a New York based venture fund with $500m under management, and HERE, a leading global provider of mapping and location-based services backed by German automotive companies Audi, BMW and Daimler.

zeotap’s technical centre is located in Bengaluru and comprises more than two-thirds of global headcount. The present technical team of 35 is expected to double in strength by the end of the year, with particular emphasis on data engineers and data scientists.

Last month, Sathish K S came on board as Director of Engineering, after stints at Ola (as Senior Engineering Manager) and Cisco (as Technical Architect). He joins Ameya Agnihotri, VP Engineering, and Nikunj Jhunjhunwala, Director of Product Management, who lead the engineering and product teams, respectively.

“We’ve been incredibly happy with our decision to build our technical team in India. Bengaluru has a wealth of skilled talent and is best-positioned to feed our voracious needs,” said Projjol Banerjea, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer at zeotap.

Last year, zeotap entered into a joint venture (JV) for the Indian market with Mogae Media for programmatic advertising on smartphones. The JV, Mozeo, brings to India a world-class platform for high-quality customer insights and targeted mobile advertising. The company is looking to hire senior executives with consummate experience in advertising sales to build Mozeo’s business development footprint in India.
