Zapak, the multi-crore budgeted gaming portal from Reliance Entertainment, is on a roll.
Rajesh Sawhney, President, Reliance Entertainment Ltd, said, “I feel we have the fastest growth of any website in the launch phase with 15,000 to 20,000 registrations every day and we have been getting around a million page views every single day over the past 50 days.”
This success has been largely possible following a high-decibel marketing campaign as well as through word-of-mouth publicity.
The company is leaving no stone unturned for marketing the gaming portal. Sawhney said, “We have a budget of Rs 6 crore for December, January and till February 14. Of this, we have spent only around 10 per cent over the past few days as the campaigns have started only recently. I am positively surprised by this response shown by gamers across the country.” He also believed that this response was not due to the marketing initiatives alone, but also due to the high quality content and word-of-mouth publicity.
Revealing more on their new multiplayer game, Sawhney said, “This multiplayer cricket game is the first of its kind to be launched. The game can be played by two people simultaneously against each other, which has been never done before. The game will be launched in Delhi on December 19 by Navjot Singh Sidhu and Kapil Dev.”
The impressive page views and registrations can be attributed to the portal’s novelty and huge marketing initiatives, but will it sustain the hype? That’s a development worth watching out for.
