World Phone Internet Services, an Internet service provider, has launched its World Phone Premium prepaid calling cards in a technical tie-up with the US-based Go2Call. Speaking on the launch on Thursday in New Delhi, Aditya Ahluwalia, Chairman, said these cards would be available in denominations of Rs 100, Rs 250, Rs 500 and Rs 1,000. These cards would enable the user to make international calls to more than 200 countries with tariffs starting from Rs 1.60.
The ad campaign for World Phone Premium prepaid calling cards will hit the print media by mid-August, Ahluwalia said. The campaign has been developed by TBWA and the focus will be on the low price and easy availability of the product. The agency has been paid around Rs 35 lakh for the first phase of the campaign’s development, he added.
Around one billion minutes of international calls are made from India per month. Of this only 2.5 per cent is made through Internet telephony. The domain has the presence of players like VSNL, BSNL, Sify, etc. World Phone is targeting 1.6 million calls per month this fiscal. The company plans to rope in major corporates to achieve its target, Ahluwalia said.
