Videotap to launch India's first dynamic personalized interactive VOD platform

VideoTap, a ‘Made in India’ Smart Video platform is going to be launched soonwith its proprietary cloud-based Smart Video Curation Software, the Design Room. Design Room enables publishers, advertisers and enterprises to unleash the potential of their existing linear video libraries to deliver an interactive smart video experience for millennials who are looking for hyper personalisation and customisation.

VideoTap aims to transform the way videos are delivered, viewed, experienced and monitored today by converting passive viewers into active engaged audience by empowering them to control their viewing experiences. Built to unlock the potential of video libraries, the aim is to make the platform Artificial Intelligence-enabled as well as facial and voice recognition-enabled to give an automated end-to-end platform solution.

DilipVenkatraman, who was the Group COO of ITV Network and Ex-CEO of CNN-IBN & IBN7 (Network18) envisioned this idea along with Savvy Dilip, Ex-Group CMO of the ITV Network.

Video is taking content consumption by storm across the globe. In a study by Cisco, videos will account for 69% of all consumer internet traffic by 2017. Currently, 70% of people between 18–34 years watch video content on internet and only 33% of them have ever seen a live programme, and that’s just for important events like sports.

The company will have a three-pronged business model. The first will be advertising-led, where publishers’ (TV Networks/content producers) content will be powered on both their website/mobile platforms as well as VideoTap's platform. Second,VideoTap will license its technology to enterprises/advertisers in different plans. Last but not the least,VideoTap will also license its technology in India as well as outside of India.

Sharing his views about the start-up, DilipVenkatraman, Founder & CEO, stated, “Our platform will offer real-time video compilations, direct-to-scene watching, branching of videos, quizzes and polls. The concept built in-house by a team of 25 people offers cutting-edge technology with a complete ecosystem that enables unlimited video compilation options without re-editing and delivers video experience with minimum or no buffering. We aim to support both B2B and B2C segments along with plans to make the platform accessible to countries such as Korea and Singapore in the coming years. Our sole mission is to come up with a local company with global succession.”
