TringMe facilitates conference call facility for its voice calling app for Facebook

Facebook is a great way to connect with people in different locations, and a new app for Facebook launched by Bangalore-based startup TringMe might well make Facebook the center of conference calls as well. The app – launched last year to enable direct calling – now has a function called Voice Event.

The function is based on the existing Facebook Events function, but enables voice conferencing and audio broadcast to the connected members of the event. The app also has a phone callback feature, which enables a connect between Facebook and a signed up user’s mobile phone, allowing them to use the system to call up a user and let them join in on the conference call without having to be on their computer.

An additional advantage of the Voice Event function is that like any Facebook event, it can be used for pre-call conversations to plan the conference call, share text, images, links and even video. The entire application is free, except for the phone function, but there too, the charges can be met by the organiser or the participant, so it can be customised to suit different situations – for example, if you want someone to attend a lecture, they could pay to access your information.

The application works within the Facebook environment on the PC, which also means that updates and notifications will come to people who RSVP the events, and so missing a conference call should be a thing of the past.
