TAN goes live with Microsoft; launches live streaming for Times Now, India TV, Zoom

Times Audience Network (TAN), the digital video arm of the Times Group, on December 1, 2009, announced the launch of the live stream for Times Now, India TV and Zoom. Web users can now watch the television feed of India’s leading English, Hindi and entertainment news channels on Live.Indiatimes.com.

In Phase I of the launch, users will be able to watch the webcast with their Facebook friends while getting real-time updates on the latest headlines from the TimesofIndia and EconomicTimes. The live-stream will be powered using Microsoft Silverlight 3.0.

Rishi Khiani, CEO, Times Internet Ltd, said, “TAN is today the only video platform that allows for best-of-breed cross platform syndication and monetisation. With this partnership between TAN and Microsoft, we continue to be at the bleeding edge of digital video. This offering opens up more innovative ad-formats for advertisers, with on-demand, mobile and now live video.”

The webcast of the news feeds will be ad-supported, with in-video formats such as pre-rolls, rich media companion banner ads, overlays and player skin branding. Users can watch Times Now, India TV and Zoom at http://live.indiatimes.com starting December 1, 2009.
