Jammu-based State Times, which recently launched its Delhi Edition, has tied up with Sulekha.com for sharing content. The English daily would publish a selected blog from the innumerous blogs on Sulekha.com as an article. The blog published once a week would be related to news and current affairs. The paper would also reward the blogger with a cash prize of Rs 1,000.
“The definition of media has changed over the years and even print needs to expand its reach through innovative ideas, networking and tie-ups. Bloggers and citizen journalists are catching up fast in the online media and most of them are youths, who are our target readers as well. We thought of creating a platform where bloggers could express their opinion in print,” said Ajay Kumar, COO, State Times.
Out of the million blogs available on Sulekha.com, the newspaper would be given selected four pieces of writing, out of which one article would be published and a cash award given every week.
“Sulekha.com has always focussed on quality blogging content. Under the Sulekha.com-Blogprint initiative, we provide a platform to our members to reach out to a wider audience by such alliances. Current affairs is always a highly debated topic with contrasting points of view. This alliance with State Times will help our members from Delhi to make an impact with their writings,” said B Sridhar, Director-Global Brand and Marketing, Sulekha.com.
In addition, State Times has also tied up with online shopping website HomeShop18 for some selected products, mostly electronic gadgets like MP3 players, headphones, DVD players, cameras and mobile phones.
According to Kumar, the readers of Jammu and Kashmir should not lag behind when it came to getting facilities available to the rest of the country. “We are trying our very best not only to cover the best of news that concern our readers, but provide them value added services as well,” he added.
