STAR launches new mobile application service ‘Plus’

STAR Mobile Entertainment has announced the launch of ‘Plus’, a new application service for mobile devices. The application will enable users to the access Internet, television, shopping, etc. on their GPRS-enabled phones. The venture has been undertaken through a joint partnership between MakeMyTrip.Com, Travelguru, HDFC Bank, Infomedia India and Universal Music India.

The application is targeted at technology-savvy mobile users. Sameer Nair, CEO, STAR Entertainment India Ltd, said, “STAR has redefined the entertainment experience on the television medium in India over the last decade. As audiences use newer media, we will be at the forefront of this evolution. With the launch of Plus, STAR is now set to redefine the entertainment experience on the mobile.”

Viren Popli, Senior VP of STAR Mobile Entertainment, said, “Plus empowers mobile consumers to do more with their mobile phones. The GPRS mobile user can now access a wide choice of video content and services. Plus has an easy to navigate menu that takes where want to go, quickly and easily. It will bring to life the anything-anytime-anywhere capability of mobiles.”

Consumer will be able to preview ring tones, wallpapers, games and download ‘Plus Communities’, a service that will soon allow consumers to be part of communities and blogs.

Plus will also offer entertainment through television content from STAR Network’s popular shows, information on banking, travel, ticketing, Yellow Pages, music, design tips, cars, gadget news, audiophiles, advising as well as computing information.
