Sports fever catches on to Zee

With the World Cup round the corner and cricket being an all time fetish for the Indians, Zee's next move seems to make a lot of sense. The timely addition to ZeeNext.com, the entertainment portal from Zee Group, will have an exhaustive coverage of Cricket and the World Cup Football, that are sure to make sports fanatics happy. Hosted on http://sports.zeenext.com the portal boasts 4 sections: Cricket, Motor sports, Tennis and World Cup Soccer and will soon include a plethora of other sports as well.

On asked why the Zee Group had made this move, Michael Singh, who is heading the ZeeNext.com portal said, "Although ZeeNext is an entertainment portal, it was not strong on the sports front. Sports have a considerable fan following in India and we saw an opportunity for our portal here. Also, we are always looking at new horizons to expand. This is how the sports section was born. We are concentrating on the depth of information that we would provide to our readers in the sports section. Apart from this, since the mission of the portal is entertainment, we are also trying to put in an element of fun."

The sports section of the ZeeNext portal claims to become one of the most premier sources of information by providing Live Highlights of the Soccer World Cup. Cricket will be the focal point of the section with the most comprehensive player and match databases and live coverage of scores of international matches included in the section. Similarly, the Motor Sport section will be dedicated to giving the readers the thrill of Motor Sporting via the net.

And giving a reason for the advertisers to be happy too, Singh said, "We have a lot of innovative options for advertisers which will add value to their campaigns." Seems that ZeeNext.com can expect some support from the planners as well.
