Sify Technologies launches online travel search powered by Sprice.com

Sify Technologies has launched its online search services powered by Sprice.com, which would allow Sify users to compare offers on various hotels, check the customer reviews and make bookings from a host of travel products available on the Internet.

Venkata Rao Mallineni, Head - Portals & Consumer Marketing, Sify Technologies Ltd, said, “With an increased number of people moving to the Internet for buying travel-related products, we decided to launch travel search that functions as one-stop-shop for all travel requirements. We are happy to have a partner like Sprice.com that has a deep understanding of travel search business and has an enviable track record of delivering best-of-the-class solutions.”

Vikas Gulati, Vice-President - Marketing, Asia Pacific, Sprice.com, said, “We are excited to join hands with Sify. Our research shows that an average consumer researches minimum five websites before booking a hotel or an air ticket. However, this doesn’t always ensure the availability of best deals. Running on real-time deep search technology, we enable consumers to search and compare up-to-date airfares from all airlines and deals from different travel vendors, including 120,000 hotels worldwide.”

Expected to reach $2 billion by 2008, the online travel industry in India is attracting a number of national and international players – at less than 5 per cent of the total industry, the potential seems enormous. According to a report by PhoCusWright, the online travel industry grew at 126 per cent from a base of $295 million in 2005 to $796 in 2006. By 2008, it was predicted to grow at 51 per cent to be a $2,004 million (around $2 billion) industry.

Sprice.com, one of the leading real-time travel search engines, is a product of Sprice Pte. Ltd, a Singapore-registered company. Sprice operates in Europe through its office in France, while the head office in Singapore serves the markets in the Asia-Pacific region.

Sify is among the largest managed enterprise and consumer Internet services companies in India, offering end-to-end solutions with a comprehensive range of products delivered over a common telecom data network infrastructure reaching 500+ cities and towns in India.
