Cyber Olympics is coming to India and Samsung India Electronics Ltd has tied up with it in a big way. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, South Korea is the main sponsor for the World Cyber Games in over 70 countries this year and the association has been carried forward in India too.

Indiagames is working along with Samsung India to successfully organise the WCG event this year. Also supporting WCG 2005 in India this year is the Sify iWay chain of cyber cafes.

The World Cyber Games preliminaries, which were kicked off in New Delhi on October 13 and 14, are being organised in eight cities, with the semi-finals and the finals being held in Mumbai on October 30 and 31, respectively.

The World Cyber Games is the world’s first ‘Cyber Game Festival’, designed to build a healthy cyber culture. The best gamers around the world gather in various cities to share the excitement and fun of the game tournaments.

The World Cyber Games (WCG) has been promoted on the lines of the International Olympic movement. The winners from each of the participating countries will compete at the WCG finals, which will be held at Suntec City, Singapore, between November 16 and November 20, 2005.

WCG – India Preliminary(s) have been organised in seven cities in India until today. The cities where the Preliminaries have been organised include New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata.

The Gaming Contest includes team as well as individual games. Harry Ahn, GM, IT Products, said, “PC Gaming is today a very evolved sport, fostering virtues of ‘team work’, ‘healthy competitiveness’ between teams and individuals and there is a strong emphasis on planning and analytical skills. While most of us interface with the PC as a productivity enhancement tool, today PC gaming is emerging as a very strong entertainment platform across the world.”

Recognising the needs of the rapidly growing gaming industry in India, Samsung now offers a range of products designed, keeping the discerning customers in mind.

For serious gamers, Samsung’s MagicGreenTM Monitors, SATA HDD and Combo Drives are ideal. The MagicBright²Ô technology in Samsung’s recently introduced Magic Green monitors allows for change in screen brightness to suit multiple applications.

The technology offers specialised settings for four highly used applications – Movie Mode; Game mode; Internet mode and Text mode. PC Gaming is also a very good application to appreciate the virtues of ‘Performance Computing’.

Today, leading edge technologies – like high performance SATA hard-disk drives, 64-bit computing and ‘converged’ display devices like MagicGreen monitors – make the PC Gaming experience more realistic and complete.
