Reliance Globalcom and Internap in strategic pact for providing online solutions

Reliance Globalcom, a division of Reliance Communications, and Internap Network Services Corporation, a global provider for end-to-end Internet business solutions, have formed a strategic business alliance that aims to provide a broad set of content and application delivery network services to indian businesses. Estimated spend on these services in Asia is projected to grow to Rs 1,163 crore by 2010.

The alliance with Internap will empower media and entertainment companies, online gaming communities and social media websites in India to deliver the ultimate online user experience. Indian Internet consumers can now look forward to an enhanced online user experience with compelling rich media content while watching live events, news, sports, movies and music or playing games.

As per the alliance, Internap would set up a new Point-of-Presence in India, which would be integrated with its global delivery infrastructure spanning seven countries (Australia, China, Singapore, Japan, the US, the UK and the Netherlands). The Point-of-Presence in India would be established and managed by Reliance Globalcom. The joint initiative would bring in the combined expertise of the two companies in high-end managed services and world class content delivery network services to add graphics, audio, streaming video and live events to their internet applications.

“Reliance Globalcom’s strategic alliance with Internap enables us to bring world-class content and application delivery network services to underserved and emerging market in India. The integrated and global portfolio of CDN and ADN solutions along with the engineering expertise and professional expertise will accelerate our time to market,” said Punit Garg, CEO, Reliance Globalcom.

The alliance provides Reliance Globalcom the required expertise to integrate media servers, enhance storage, accelerate its network and optimise routes to deliver, manage, and monetise media content. The global infrastructure includes Internap’s patented MIRO (Managed Internet Routing Optimizer) and ADN technologies. MIRO monitors the performance of Internet backbones and automatically selects the best path to global destinations, thus providing faster content delivery.

“A key element of Internap’s growth strategy is to expand our product offerings into markets outside of the US,” said James P DeBlasio, President and CEO, Internap. He added, “Our strategic alliance with Reliance Globalcom is a major achievement for us in executing this strategy. We have now dramatically expanded our reach into new and fast-growing markets in India.”
