Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Entertainment has launched the beta version of its casual gaming portal, Zapak.com, under its new gaming division named Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd.
“We have just launched the beta version of the site. We will further enhance the features and add new games to it when we formally launch it on December 1, 2006,” said Rajesh Sawhney, President, Reliance Entertainment.
As previously reported by exchange4media, R-ADAG would be investing $100 million in three years’ time to build its gaming portals and gaming cafes. Under the first phase, it has launched casual games, in the second and third phases, it plans to launch action games and MMOGs (Massive Multiplayer Online Games), respectively.
When asked whether the new products would be launched on different portals or on the same portal, Sawhney said, “They will be part of the same portal.”
About the gaming cafes, Sawhney said, “These are planned to be launched next year.” He, however, refused to reveal the investment made for the first phase of the rollout.
