Ramadorai of TCS is new NASSCOM Chairman, Satyam's Raju is Vice-chairman

S Ramadorai, CEO, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is the new Chairman of NASSCOM for 2005-06. B Ramalinga Raju, Chairman, Satyam Computer Services, has been appointed Vice-chairman of the IT industry's representative body.

Kiran Karnik, President, NASSCOM, said, "We are delighted to have Ramadorai taking on the chairmanship of NASSCOM. He has played an important role, both as a member and as Vice-Chairman of NASSCOM's Executive Council."

Karnik also praised the role played by outgoing chairman Jerry Rao in 2004-05. Rao will continue to head the NASSCOM Security Forum. Under his leadership, NASSCOM launched the 'Trusted Sourcing' initiative, which helped in creating awareness about the robust security practices being followed by Indian ITS/BPO companies.

Speaking about his role, Ramadorai said, "I am deeply honoured to be NASSCOM's Chairman during 2005-06. The organisation has been the voice of Indian IT in the global marketplace and has helped raise awareness that Indian technology products and services are cutting edge, and globally competitive. As Chairman, I look forward to further enhancing the reputation and growth of our IT industry, both at home and across the globe." Raju, who heads NASSCOM's International Policy Group, said he would "strive to continue the momentum that the Indian IT industry has maintained over the years."
