Quickie: A new online media innovation

Quasar media is currently doing Quickie based advertising for MakeMyTrip.com on Indiatimes.com to promote the travel site’s New Year special deals. Quickie, explained Manish Vij, Business Head for Quasar Media, involved 5-8 pages of advertisements that carried interactive neutral content on the advertised subject with sponsor advertising all across. The lead in to these pages is through editorial content, which is typically placed in the news column of the website.

The current campaign is helping MakeMyTrip.com promote New Year travel deals by displaying information for various destinations handpicked for New Year travel. Users who are interested in any of the destinations can write to MakeMyTrip.com through a link available on the content page for travel package details.

MakeMyTrip.com Co-founder, Sachin Bhatia, said, “We are doing two innovations. First is MakeMyTrip.com Quickie, which is running on Indiatimes.com. It’s a true innovation. We had proposed to Indiatimes and got the relevant story link .It is not an advertising feature and, therefore, the creditability is higher. This section runs like a flier and we are promoting this section. The second innovation that we are doing is on our own site to commemorate World AIDS Day.”

Indiatimes.com National Sales Head, Online Advertising, Rohit Sharma, said, “Indiatimes.com has been a leader in creating innovation on the Internet. We have been successful beyond the traditional banner advertising and have created new and interactive stuff for clients like Levi’s, MakeMyTrip.com, etc. This has been through a comprehensive mix of content and advertising.”

Quasar Media’s Manish Vij said, “Internet is a medium with enormous capability to innovate and help advertisers break the clutter. We believe that 20-25 per cent of online media budgets should be planned for innovative activities. Quickie is one such advertising.”

“We offer our advertisers affiliate marketing and viral programmes as part of innovative campaigns. We have introduced a lot of innovative activities for our clients such as full screen video plays and the very successful viral marketing campaigns for Samsung NotePC,” he added.
