The Sportskeeda team has made some big signings in the recent past, but this latest move might just be the biggest feather in its cap. Partha S Banerjee, a well-known name in the digital media industry, has come on-board as Sportskeeda’s Chief Operating Officer, bringing with him a wealth of experience across product management, partnerships & business development.
Banerjee needs little introduction; starting out as a Project Manager for HolidayIQ, he joined the ESPN group in 2006. He spent the next eight years pioneering several initiatives and projects across the spectrum of sports, signing off his tenure as the Associate Director of Product Partnerships and Business Development.
His next stint was at the globally popular trivia based social platform QuizUp, as the country lead for India, where he worked on partnerships with some of the leading names in the Indian entertainment industry.
Sportskeeda came calling soon after Banerjee completed one year at the gaming start-up, and he had little hesitation in jumping ship after studying Sportskeeda’s growth patterns and ambitious plans.
As the COO, Banerjee is expected to build on Sportskeeda’s existing foundation and streamline the activities of the company. He will work towards further growth of Sportskeeda’s brand value, audience and revenues by strengthening the current offerings and also by introducing various new and innovative media properties.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Sportskeeda team at such an exciting time in the company’s growth and expansion,” Banerjee said about his new innings. “The young team, together with thousands of content contributors spread across the globe, run a unique sports-based democracy on a robust platform; I can’t wait to sink my teeth into Sportskeeda’s variety of product and content offerings.”
Speaking about the high-profile signing, Sportskeeda CEO Porush Jain said, “Partha has done some excellent work at ESPN and QuizUp, and we are super-excited to see the direction in which he takes Sportskeeda. He knows sports, content and social media like the back of his hand, and I have no doubt that with his expertise and guidance we will very soon accomplish our mission statement of becoming the one-stop destination for sports in India.”
Banerjee’s appointment just before the start of the Rio Olympics could be a case of great timing, and he would be keen to push out plenty of creative content offerings during the 17-day extravaganza. But that’s not where it stops; with the cricket season and ISL coming up, the road ahead is filled with opportunities!
