NDTV Convergence has launched a multimedia messaging service (MMS) on the NDTV short code 56388, post a successful testing for a period of three months. The service will enable users to send in content to NDTV that can be later used after analysis and verification on the various channels of the NDTV Group, especially NDTV Metro Nation. The sender would also be provided with the credit of sending the MMS.
The service is available to subscribers of Vodafone, BPL, BSNL in Western, Eastern and Southern regions, Spice in Karnataka and Reliance. NDTV will also have a revenue sharing with the operators.
“We have also made the tool operational, for the access of these MMS clips. This will enable one to check all clips coming in at any point of time, and take selected clips on air with a click of a button. We are confident that this service will help us create a ready repository of rich user-generated content, as well as add to the interactive element of our channels, thereby adding to the local-level traction,” said Sanjay Trehan, CEO, NDTV Convergence.
The promotion of this service is expected to be done through tickers, television anchor mentions, as well as on-air promos.
