NBS brings iRadioIndia web radio platform to India

After piloting the web radio project under the aegis of CEMCA (Commonwealth Education and Media Center for Asia) and leadership of its former Director, Dr R Sreedher, for over six months, the NBS (Newzstreet Broadcast Services) has formally launched iRadioIndia in the country.

The global web radio platform has been launched on August 1, 2012. With the launch of iRadioIndia, web listeners can not only access entertainment shows, songs and educational programmes of community radio stations, but also listen to exclusive NBS audio shows such as full length Hindi movies in audio, devotional discourses, regular news events and talk shows on current affairs.

Dr R Sreedher, Mentor and Advisor, iRadioIndia, elucidated, “The digital age is already changing ways to consume media properties and there is nothing secret that people have already expereinced the potential of the digital medium. It is hard to accept at the moment, but web radio will create a revolution in listening patterns in a few years.”

As of now, there are 15 radio stations that are already on board; the target is to have 100 radio stations. iRadioIndia will target radio stations across India as well as abroad.

According to Alok Verma, Editor-in-Chief, NBS, “The responses have been good so far as listeners from all parts of the world have already started listening the web radio.”

In future, the iRadioIndia website will also contain a lot of new features to help listeners pick and select programmes of their choice for listening from live programmes.
