IMPACT magazine from the exchange4media Group has unveiled a list of 100 digital media stars, who have mastered the art of taming this new monster. In its second year, the comprehensive list celebrates the real movers and shakers in India’s digital media industry, who are pioneering the growth of the digital economy. Christened as IMPACT Digital Power 100, the aim is to identify the 100 most influential digital leaders in the industry, who will be central to the growth of this medium and have given a new meaning to the fast-growing digital and mobile industry.
The power list has been created through a robust and transparent process involving top-notch professionals and domain experts. Leading the list is Nandan Nilekani, Chairman, UIDAI, who has given a unique identity to every citizen of the country. He has spearheaded the Aadhaar or the unique identification project that provides a unique identification number to all the residents of India.
Ranked No. 2 is Rajan Anandan, Managing Director, Google India. He has brought out a revolution in the Indian online space through Google’s innovative strategies.
The third slot is occupied by Deepinder Goyal, Founder & CEO, Zomato, the online restaurant discovery guide that has today become the most popular and easiest way to discover new places to eat and drink.
The fourth position is occupied by Phanindra Sama, CEO, redBus, which is India’s biggest online bus ticketing company. It is interesting to note that Sama has jumped up from eighth position last year to fourth position this year. VSS Mani, Founder & CEO, Justdial occupies the fifth slot. He was ranked No. 4 last year. Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal of Flipkart have moved up the ladder to fill the sixth position this year. Dr Rahul Khullar, Chairman, TRAI has been a new addition to the list, occupying the seventh position, due to his commendable efforts for the industry. Kirthiga Reddy of Facebook has moved a few notches higher to be ranked as No. 8 on the list. She is followed by Ashish Hemrajani, Founder & CEO, Bookmyshow, who has also moved up on the list as compared to last year. Deep Kalra, Founder & CEO, MakeMyTrip, who was leading the list last year, has been ranked tenth this year.
Vikram Chandra, Executive Director & Group CEO, NDTV, who is ranked nineteenth on the list, remarked, “I think it’s a great privilege and honour to be a part of the list. It is good to have the so-called ‘old media people’ on the digital list. It is an indication of the fact that the future is digital and we, at NDTV, have been working very hard in spearheading the campaign to make sure that we recognise that the future is online and digital increasingly.”
The gathering had eminent personalities from the digital universe, who led the field from the front this year. Ashish Kashyap, Founder & Group CEO, ibibo, who is ranked thirteenth on the list, said, “I am very excited to be a part of the list. It’s not just me contributing to the internet society, but everybody together contributing to it and this is just a testimony of the fact that we have done some good job. This list is not just about me, but a bunch of 100 more people working on a vision.”
The distinguished jury for the IMPACT Digital Power 100 was led by Jury Chairperson Kiran Karnik, Former President, Nasscom, and the jury panel this year included some of the best minds in the business – N Madhavan, Senior Editor, Hindustan Times; Prosenjit Dutta, Editor, Businessworld; Ranjit Shastri, Director, Stern Fisher Angel Network; Ravi Rao, Leader - Mindshare, South Asia; Rohit Prasad, Author of ‘Startup Sutra’ and Associate Professor, Management Development Institute; Smita Jha, Leader - Entertainment & Media Practice, PricewaterhouseCoopers; Sunil Gupta, Managing Partner, South Asia, Results International Group; and Pranjal Sharma, Advisor, Corporate Strategy, Prasar Bharti.
The event was a unique get together of the most influential names in the digital media industry and is sure to become an event that the digital gurus will look forward to year after year.
