MSN Control Room brings online music community closer

Since the launch of the MSN Control Room feature on MSN in October 2006, 30 concerts have already been aired live on the site. The trend of music and entertainment has thus brought the online music community closer.

Satya Raghavan, Head-Consumer Marketing, MSN India, said, “The trend of showing live concerts that was started on MSN Control Room became very popular since we launched the feature in October 2006. The opportunity to see live acts as well as view clips of previous performances on MSN Control Room has made it a popular destination for music buffs on the Internet. The news spread through word-of-mouth. We didn’t do any advertising for it. Recently, there was a live performance by Elton John on MSN Control room and the number of audience got tripled. The destination for music lovers to speak about their favourite musicians thus tends to be more viral.”

Raghavan said, “We are happy that audience has tripled and this is among the top 10 products in our website today. We see this space growing very rapidly. The year 2007 is full of concerts. MSN is the only destination where you can get high quality live music.”

In the past, MSN India has brought to users concerts of a whole host of international artists like Kylie Minogue, Beyonce Knowles, Snoop Dogg, John Mayer, John Legend, Rod Stewart and Pink through MSN Control Room. MSN announced its association with Control Room in October 2006. Through this partnership, MSN is the exclusive online worldwide destination for Control Room’s live music programming through live and on-demand video streaming.

Raghavan said about further plans, “We want to throw more excitement in this online music space. We want to have contests for our music lovers on music. We want the Indian audience to interact deeper with us. We have plans to take this property to other media.”
