Meet Pammi Aunty, the new social media sensation

He’s not just a Shah Rukh Khan lookalike, but a star in his own way. In a matter of few months, Ssumier S Pasricha, who used to play Shailendra on TV show Sasural Simar Ka, has become a social media sensation. In the last couple of weeks, Pasricha has been creating ripples online with his character Pammi Aunty-an exaggerated version of the next door gossip lover.

Sporting giant pink glasses, her hair tied in a towel with the stuck-on curlers,  Pammy Aunty has an opinion on everything, from  Brexit, to UEFA Euro 2016, Airtel 4G and even Game of Thrones, and not to forget the neighbourhood tales. Her daily conversations with her friend Sarla are the bedrock of her claim to fame and the mainstay of her short videos.

Sample this:

Though Pasricha started posting short videos on Snapchat last year, it was only few months’ back that his videos started to get noticed. And when bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor tweeted about him recently, Pammi Aunty has become the central topic of many conversations across social media channels since then.

The new social media star has fans across age groups and his fan following seems to be surging by the day:

Even Raj Kundra was all praise for Pammy Aunty’s histrionics...

The irony is that Pasricha aka Pammi Aunty, who was seen in some popular TV serials, never got his due, and now his social media character has transformed him into an overnight celebrity who has more fans than many well known TV stars today.
