Media Magic to provide rich content for mobile phones

Mobile Magic has announced the launch of its rich content for mobile phones through its rich content aggregation and retail platform ‘Media Magic’. The company intends to provide legal mobile content like games, applications, movies and music in an offline format. The company already has tie-ups with Hungama Mobile, Shemaroo and others for content. For distribution, the company has already associated with Café Coffee Day and Planet M, and is also in talks with some other retail chains.

Announcing the launch, Vijay Singh, CEO, Media Magic, stressed that the company planned to reach across 10,000 retail outlets in the next 24 months. “The broadband penetration is not high in India, but the mobile phone penetration is. We are mainly targeting the 80 per cent non-GPRS enabled device owners of the 225 million mobile phone users in India.”

“Consumers will get DVD quality experience for movies of all languages with all legal content and software, which will ensure many benefits like extended battery life, no hanging and no viruses, etc. We have acquired the license to distribute over 500 movies including regional titles in all languages in addition to Bollywood movies, as well as over 5,000 songs and huge numbers of wall papers and games which would be constantly expanded,” added Singh.

Saleem Mobhani, COO, Hungama Mobile, observed that the company was looking at retail networking initiative at present, but would move onto the online form at a later stage.

The content can be downloaded by the user, specifically for his mobile device, from different purchase points. A kiosk model is also available that will allow the user to browse through the content on offer and select the content required.
