Makemytrip adjudged best online travel agency in India by Galileo Express TravelWorld

MakeMyTrip.com bags Galileo Express TravelWorld’s award for ‘Best Online Travel Agency in India’. This makes the travel portal the first-ever recipient of the award for this category introduced this year. The development symbolises the growing significance of OTAs (open travel alliance) in the travel and tourism industry in India. The Awards were given away in Mumbai on November 31.

The Galileo Express TravelWorld Awards were incorporated in 2003 with the objective of promoting professionalism and encouraging the industry to attain higher levels of performance. Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu oversaw the overall data collation, evaluation process and ensured transparency.

Commenting on the win, Deep Kalra, CEO & Founder, MakeMyTrip.com, said, “This is a proud moment for MakeMyTrip.com. While our customers have helped us consistently maintain leadership position in the market, we are extremely thrilled to receive such endorsement of our service and product offerings from an industry body of this stature.”

The other winners of the Galileo Express TravelWorld Awards included Kuoni Destination Management, which won the Best National Inbound Tour Operator Award; SOTC bagged the Best National Outbound Tour Operator Award.

Award for Best East Bound Airline From India went to Singapore Airlines, while the Best West Bound Airline From India was Air-India. Jet Airways was adjudged the Best Domestic Full Service Carrier, while the Best Domestic Low-Cost Carrier Award went to Air Deccan.

In the tourism segment, the Best State Tourism Board Award went to Kerala Tourism Board, while Singapore Tourism Board was adjudged the Best International Tourism Board. Among hotels, the Best Hotel Brand was ITC Hotels, while the Best First Class Hotel Brand Award went to Trident Hilton Hotels, and Welcom Heritage was adjudged the Best Heritage Hotel Brand.
