LinkedIn enhances user experience with new features

Soon after strengthening its mobile application, LinkedIn has now introduced notifications and a redesigned version of company pages and career pages. Along with this roll-out, the company is also testing a new feature, endorsements, in India.

LinkedIn’s new endorsements will enable users to recommend anyone they work with to help them build their professional profile record. This feature makes it easy to endorse specific skills of multiple connections at one go. On being endorsed, the users will receive an email digest and will also see an update on their LinkedIn update stream.

The notification feature enables users to stay connected by notifying them when anyone likes what they have shared, views their profile or tries to connect with them. One can see a notification flag at the top of their homepage and a new Inbox envelope icon. A red circle appears when the user has some new activity on his profile. The feature will soon be updated across all mobile platforms too.

Company pages and career pages feature aims at helping users get an easy access to information of the companies they are interested in, and also helps companies establish a good rapport with their target audience. Company pages will also be available on LinkedIn iPhone, Android and iPad apps. Companies such as Philips, Citi, HP and Dell were given an early access to the redesigned company pages. The feature gives the companies an opportunity to upload a picture that best represents the company and their brand.

For the record, LinkedIn has 175 million users worldwide and more than 16 million users in India.
