Several leading portals like Yahoo!, MSN, Google, Indiatimes, Sify and Rediff are using leading language solution provider Webdunia. Additionally, the content of two TV channels is currently visible on Webdunia’s nine Indian language portals. The company also plans to launch a multiple language blog application by November this year.
While Webdunia is maintaining the content and technology of seven languages of Yahoo!, the company is also providing language content to MSN. On the other hand, Webdunia has provided language content technologies to Rediff, Sify and greeting card technology to Indiatimes.
Vinay Chhajlani, Founder and CEO, Webdunia, said, “We recently completed an investment of over 1,200 man-months of effort and unveiled the next version of nine language portals, and email in 11 languages. Based on the advice of global branding experts and the feedback from customers, we have adopted a unified look and feel for all portals.”
Pankaj Jain, President, Webdunia, said that the company facilitated language SMS for Reliance Communications in 2003. “Now, we are working on applications to enable 11 languages for Tata Indicom. With regards to our language portals, we have 50-60 million page views per month, which is growing by 6-8 per cent every month. We also plan to launch a multiple language blog application by November this year,” he said.
Jain further explained that the TV channel ‘Aastha and Andwishwas’ that focuses on real life stories on superstitions, is visible on Webdunia’s nine Indian language portals. Another TV channel ‘Dharmyatra’ that focuses on temples, is featured on the website’s nine language portals, with special stories about temples and religious places from the channel being uploaded every Monday.
