Just Dial launches local search engine

Just Dial Services, India’s telephonic search company, has announced the launch of India’s first cutting edge local search engine — www.justdial.com. The website provides users access to any local information across leading cities and multiple categories, with extremely relevant search results instantly. It also offers listings for businesses, enabling focussed outreach via increased visibility for prospective customers, and thus optimising their advertising revenues.

“Pursuant to the success of our telephone-based search service, we saw the need to expand our services to reach users via multiple tools, which would make local searches convenient, fast and highly accurate for consumers. With the proliferation of mobile phones and increase in the use of the Internet, JustDial.com aims to make local search information available at the click of a button,” said VSS Mani, Founder and MD, Just Dial Pvt. Ltd.

Just Dial is an open search application which gives users the liberty to define their search while supporting it with intelligence that picks up synonyms and phonetics, rendering much more effectiveness and ease-of-use.

Unlike generic search engines, Just Dial allows consumers to search for any local information by categorising the query into the company/name or product/service, local area (within cities) and even by price, and giving the user extremely relevant and tailored results.

Just Dial currently has its offices in 11 cities and the product offering caters to consumers via Internet, telephone and SMS on mobile phones, which will be launched shortly. The services are accessible from 45 cities through the phone. Just Dial receives approximately 26 million phone calls a year.
