Online fashion retailer, Jabong has appointed former Benetton India MD Sanjeev Mohanty as its new CEO and MD. He replaces co-founder Praveen Sinha, who has served as MD since the company’s inception.
Praveen Sinha informed us that he will be completely moving away from the operational side of things by December to concentrate on his other ventures. Mohanty is expected to take over responsibility in December. Arun Chandra Mohan, the other Co-founder of Jabong, also exited the company in September. According to a media report, Mohan will be launching a new start-up in the mobile internet space.
Mohanty has 20 years of experience in the fashion and retail segment, more than 13 of which have been with Benetton. He has also had stints with Levi Strauss, Madura Garments (Aditya Birla Group Company) and Newport.
Global Fashion Group (GFG), the parent company of Jabong, had appointed CFO Neils Chrestin as interim CEO at Jabong, in September. Chrestin has been actively involved in hiring a new top management for the company, which also includes Mobikwik’s Saurabh Srivastava, who has joined as CMO, Gaana.com’s Saurabh Goel as Chief Product Officer and HT Media’s Sumit Jain as CTO.
According to media reports, the shuffling of top management is to make way for an eventual sale of the company.
