The Internet has been abuzz with rumours about the iPad2 for a while now, and these have only gained traction because Apple did not participate in the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona. True to style, the company will be going it alone, and Kara Swisher of All Things D suggests on her Boomtown column that the tech giant will be unveiling the iPad2 at their solo event on March 2, 2011.
If Swisher and other industry watchers in the US are right, then we could very well be seeing Apple’s response to the latest generation of Android tablets, which have been announced recently. As of now, there are still no devices on the market that can really compete with the iPad, and it seems as if the competition might have taken a little too much time to play catch-up, and Apple today has a chance to once again be the dominant name in the tablet market.
While all sorts of wild mass guessing is currently surrounding the new device, it is safe to say that it will probably include a camera and Facetime video chat, it might be a dual core device, it’ll probably be thinner, and could also support GSM and CDMA networks.
Whatever the truth to these rumours, almost as interesting is the rumour that Apple CEO Steve Jobs will be making presenting the new products, which would go a long way in dispelling concerns about his failing health, and its possible impact on the future of Apple.
