Isobar India bags Expedia’s social media account

Online travel company Expedia India has appointed Isobar India, part of Aegis Media Group, to manage its social media presence in India. The win comes on the back of a multi-agency pitch. Isobar will be handling the complete social media presence for Expedia, including on Facebook, blogs, Twitter and other video sites.

Commenting on the development, Manmeet Ahluwalia, Marketing Head, Expedia, said, “Social media and ORM is perhaps the most important tool for success in today’s digitally connected world, especially in our line of business. It is core to our marketing strategy and hence, we wanted to look for the best agency to partner with. We chose Isobar as they have done some outstanding work in India.”

Reacting to the win, Shamsuddin Jasani, Managing Director, Isobar India, said, “This is a great win for us. We are very excited that the world leader in online travel has appointed us as their social media and ORM agency. Social media is a core ingredient for Expedia’s success and Isobar will work as the catalyst in achieving this success.”

Expedia, Inc also operates Expedia.co.in in India. Expedia currently operates localised websites across 25 points of sale in India, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, US, Canada, France, Italy, Austria, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Switzerland, South Korea, Brazil and Indonesia.

Expedia entered into an exclusive partnership with Air Asia recently to offer complete range of great value flights, hotels, and holiday options for the Indian consumer.

This win comes close on the heels of Isobar bagging the Kellogg and Kwan accounts. The agency is also working for brands like Reebok, Adidas, Bose and P&G.
