Internet & Mobile Connect: VAS and quality key to success in digital business
Internet and Mobile Connect, held on March 15, 2007, played host to an array of discussions on topics ranging from ‘Raising and leveraging Venture Capital’ to the boom in the Internet business and mobile Value Added Services (VAS). Industry experts unanimously agreed that a dotcom cannot survive with huge marketing spends if they do not provide good services.
In the panel discussion on ‘Internet Business: Is the boom for real this time?’, everyone felt that dotcoms need to concentrate on providing value to the consumer rather than marketing themselves to attract visitors. ‘Mobile VAS: Time to look beyond Ring Tones and Wallpapers?’ was the second panel discussion. It was moderated by Sandeep Singhal from Nexus India Capital. Speakers like Alok Mittal, Canaan Partners; Shailesh Varudkar, Hutch; Sanjay Swamy, mChek; Arvind Rao, OnMobile; and, Rajesh Sawhney, Reliance Entertainment stressed on the need of other mobile VAS with the rapid growth of Internet and mobile phone users.
With the increasing need of venture capital in the Internet business, speakers like Eric Young, Canaan Partners, Nitish Mittersain, Nazaratech, Probir Roy, PayMate, Ravi Adusumalli, SAIF Partners, Mahesh Murthy, Seed Fund, and Sandeep Murthy, Sherpalo Ventures shared some of their experiences. The session was moderated by Manik Arora, IDC Ventures.
