Indiatimes is all set to launch, what it calls, the world’s first interactive, multi-media enabled Chatisode, in early August. The portal is currently under a test run at phatchicks.indiatimes.com.
The Chatisode will be an interactive platform in which cyber buffs could chat with four Pretty, Hot and Tempting Chicks (PHATChicks) in a multi-media platform. Others can watch the conversation after the content has been moderated. Currently, Indiatimes is looking for three “insanely bright, irreverent, high-on-attitude female writers” for this full time assignment and has made postings at various blogs. It has already recruited one for the same job. The four ladies will chat with the pseudo names of Sakhi, Alia, Teena and Samyukta.
When contacted, Sanjay Trehan, VP, Broadband and Web 2.0, who is heading the project, said, “This is a new experiment, where users are given an opportunity to co-create content. This is possible in the inclusive environment of Web 2.0, which empowers users to participate in ongoing conversations.
When asked about the business model, Trehan without willing to reveal much, said, “We will follow an advertisement and sponsorship-driven revenue model and would focus on monitisation of the community.”
Trehan expressed the hope that the project would run for a period of at least one year initially.
Indiatimes had quietly soft-launched Indiatimes broadband a month back with five channels – movies, sports, news, business and music. When asked to comment on it, Trehan said, “We are currently testing the consumer experience and have received very good response to Indiatimes broadband. We are expecting to add a few more channels to it in the coming months.”
