Indiatimes has recently added a new vertical to its fold. Now, connoisseurs of art can have a dedicated portal to themselves with the introduction of www.art.indiatimes.com.
Indiatimes Art has been positioned to demystify art and bring it to the common man. The site encapsulates works of the great masters and those of contemporary artists. The ‘artscape’ is a way to buy a priceless art piece online and at the same time netizens can review the worldwide art scenario, post their paintings, get ratings, send in queries and create their own art blog.
Commenting on the new initiative, Dinesh Wadhawan, Managing Director, Times Internet Ltd, said, “There is no way anyone will frame a land deed or share certificate and display it on his walls, but there is art that appreciates as an aesthetic investment. We will help art buyers in making informed decisions about these investments.”
Speaking on Indiatimes’ foray into art, Vineet Jain, Chairman, Times Internet Ltd, said, “Indiatimes Art will be the definitive gallery for Indian art. The aim is to educate the consumer on what is good and why one should invest in it.”
Indiatimes has tied up with several top art galleries and set up a panel of experts who will guide the portal in the selection of art works, besides recognising and nurturing new talent. This panel will also interact with visitors to the site on art-related issues. The panelists include eminent members like Keshav Malik, Rameshwar Broota, Gopi Gajwani, Anjolie Ela Menon, Rajiv Lochan, Niren Sengupta and Dr Saryu Doshi.
Besides the online art gallery, Indiatimes will also promote Indiatimes Art through auctions at various cities across India.
