IDMA 2017 sees 750 entries from 60 agencies, 230 brands

The pre-screening process for the latest edition of exchange4media’s premier digital marketing awards came to an end this week with the jury going through 750 entries from 60 agencies and 230 brands.

exchange4media formulated the Indian Digital Media Awards (IDMA) in 2010 with the objective to recognise, celebrate and encourage the work being done in the digital media space, specifically, internet, mobile, gaming, social media and the blogosphere.

Speaking about his experience as part of the jury, Prabhakar Tiwari, Founder and CEO at The MargDarshak Inc., said, “Being part of the jury is a learning and a humbling experience. And learning is a big personal motive for me. In a fast paced technology world, all imaginative and brilliant ideas of smart marketers can see the light of day, so you can't just go by a fascinating project brought alive. As a jury member, you have to put efforts to fully understand the strategic underpinnings, creative brilliance, execution discipline and results accomplished before you get to rate the entry judiciously. This year was a blockbuster year in terms of so many high-quality entries, as compared to my previous years’ experience. Digital technology appreciation and usage have really percolated deeper among marketers. It's heartening to see so many innovations with amazing business results across industries. Such awards should be bi-annual, given the pace and quantum of digital marketing work being done around us, so that no good efforts should go unrecognised. I would strongly recommend two rounds every year with summer and winter sessions.””

Vishal Chadha, Associate Vice President at HCL Technologies felt that IDMA was a great attempt to recognise innovative and successful digital campaigns and engagement.

"As an online jury member, I was amazed to see the extent to which several submissions had leveraged varied media - offline, TV, print, digital, social and mobile - in an integrated manner to achieve their strategic goals. The ultimate winners will have truly deserved the awards. I look forward to meeting with and interacting with the teams at the ceremony next month,” he said.

“Judging entries on-line is a very interesting experience, though one misses the robust discussions of the live jury.  On the positive side one is able to make calmer and rational choices. The quality of the entries have been exceptional, truly signifying the coming of age of digital as a medium. I believe the difference between digital and non-digital marketing will blur over time as consumers are consuming content seamlessly,” opined Lloyd Mathias, Marketing Director (Consumer PCs), Asia Pacific, Japan, at HP.

The online jury for this year’s IDMA includes Sumit Aggarwal, Director at Oracle Marketing Cloud; Upasana Roy, Head of Strategy – India at DigitasLBi; Vishal Chadha, Associate Vice President at HCL Technologies; Laura Crimmons, Communications Director at Branded3; serial entrepreneur Rob Aalders; Yateesh Srivastava, Managing Partner at Grey Space and Partner at Firki Productions; Prabhakar Tiwari, Founder and CEO at The MargDarshak Inc; Prashanth Challapalli, Chief Integration Officer - South Asia at The Leo Burnett Group; Vikrant Mudaliar, CMO of Yatra.com; Lloyd Mathias, Marketing Director (Consumer PCs), Asia Pacific Japan at HP; Sabyasachi Mitter, MD at ibs; Jitendra Gupta, MD/Founder, Citrus Payments and MD, PayU India and Hitesh Rajwani, Head at Social Samosa.
