In a bid to promote soccer in the country, Idea Cellular has come up with a nationwide talent hunt, which was inaugurated by Tony Ricketts, FIFA ‘A’ coach from Bristol Academy of Sports, UK and Bruno Coutinho, Ex-Captain, Indian National Football Team. The cellular services major has also arranged a 10-day Soccer Clinic at Poona Club to be on till November 17.

Lakshmi Narayan, Head of Maharashtra and Goa Circle, Idea Cellular, said, “The Idea nationwide talent hunt is an attempt to tap the hidden talent among young and budding sportsmen. Moreover, we believe that it is essential to provide them an opportunity that would help them to prove their mettle in the international arena. The other initiative is to promote Pune as a sports destination.”

Acknowledging the potential of football in India, Ricketts said, “Indian football has the potential to compete in all major international tournaments. With the right kind of impetus from the corporate sector and sport lovers it can be promoted and nurtured.”
