IDEA Cellular upper crust sees key changes

IDEA Cellular Ltd has announced several appointments in the senior cadre to spearhead various important portfolios within the company. This includes the position of Chief Financial Officer, which was vacant after Vikram Mehmi took over as CEO.

On this, Mehmi said, “We are going through a phase of speedy growth, both organic and inorganic. I welcome aboard the sharpest brains from various sectors of the industry such as FMCG, banking, management consultancy, insurance, hospitality, education, etc. The entry of such a large pool of professionals will catapult IDEA into a competitive force and will also facilitate the development of additional revenue streams for the company to contribute to the identified focus areas of the company.”

The top deck cast of IDEA includes Sudhir Mathur, Chief Financial Officer, S Ramaswamy, VP- Service Delivery & Quality, Lakshmi Narayana, VP-Channel Management, Gururaj D Kulkarni, VP-Business Development, D Sundararajan, Head-Mergers and Acquisitions, and Lekha Sishta, Head-Customer Services Quality.

Previously, all customer facing departments were brought under a newly created position of GM (Customer Services at each circle). The circle heads were re-designated as VP (Customer Operations). Now a seasoned VP in Customer Service Delivery and Quality has been brought in at the corporate office with the intention of creating a competitive edge in customer services. The company has also recruited a Head of Customer Services Quality who would supervise the trainers when it comes to product training, process training and quality training.

IDEA claims to have a subscriber base of over 3.8 million across the country. With the acquisition of Escotel, IDEA Cellular has enhanced its footprint to cover around 60 per cent of India‘s population and over 65 per cent of the potential telecom market. IDEA now has presence in 11 circles across the country.
