A-, win at PC World Web Awards 2008 has been recognised as the best shopping website in India by technology magazine PC World. It stood out amongst stiff competition with competitors like eBay India, FutureBazaar, Rediff Shopping and Indya Mall, among others. was launched in August 2007 under Network18’s umbrella.

The magazine in its latest issue says “HomeShop18 won the top spot amongst all shopping websites because of its content, products, prices and diverse portfolios, and was adjudged an excellent shopping experience. The colours are bright, the layout clean and easy to navigate. The homepage has good graphics and on the inner pages the colours are good and the layout is not cluttered with heavy graphics. The product description is crisp and yet comprehensive.”

Sundeep Malhotra, CEO, HomeShop18, said, “This award is reflective of the commitment to innovation that HomeShop18 stands for. I am very proud that in less than one year of the website’s existence, we have made our mark with this credible award. Meanwhile, was adjudged the best entertainment portal at the PC World Web Awards 2008. The portal edged out the other nominees by a clear margin with its use of technology, providing a richer user experience, diverse sections and an enjoyable browsing experience.

In its second year, the PC World Web Awards focused on 57 websites across 31 popular categories in the Internet domain. On the criteria of evaluation, PC World said, “Our experts rated sites on two levels – design and usability. Design included colours, typography, visual appeal, consistency. Usability took account interactivity and customisation in India.”
