Geodesic launches service for consumers to access Internet radio on mobile phones

Geodesic, a provider of communication and collaboration products on the Internet and mobile phones, has launched the beta version of an innovative mobile Internet radio service called Mundu Radio. Mundu Radio offers free access to unlimited music or broadcast content of choice to its users from any part of the world on their mobile devices.

Mundu Radio provides access to thousands of digital Internet radio stations and a broad array of international and Indian music and other content available on the Web such as Pop, Rock, Classical, Instrumental, Bollywood, News and more. Users can also personalise their playlist and manage their profile using an easy to use interface giving users freedom to listen to their favourite stations and their favourite genre commercial-free.

Commenting on the launch, Kiran Kulkarni, Managing Director, Geodesic, said, “Mundu Radio heralds a new era of unlimited mobile entertainment for the new generation who are constantly on the move. Mobile devices today are ubiquitous and users have shown a clear preference to have all their content available on their phones. With Mundu Radio, user’s choice of music, news and other content explodes without the need to carry separate devices. Mundu Radio will create even more compelling opportunities for online music fans, artists, broadcast content providers and publishers who are looking to take their content onto the most widely available avenue – mobile phones.”

Mundu Radio operates on mobile phones with Internet connection (GPRS - CDMA and GSM) and eliminates the need to carry separate devices for listening to high quality unadulterated music. This service is compatible with popular handsets based on Symbian, Windows Mobile and Palm OS platforms. Mundu supports streaming at 24 Kbps and 32 Kbps, which is superior in sound quality experience than the currently offered Mp3 streaming on mobile phones.

Geodesic is planning to launch the commercial version of the service within a month and is currently in the process of deciding on their marketing initiative, which will include tie-ups as well as media and creative agencies as the company is looking at a 360-degree communication plan.

The beta version of the product is available for free download at the Mundu Radio website http://radio.mundu.com/

Geodesic Information Systems Ltd, formed in 1999, is software solutions company. Geodesic is now widely recognised for its pioneering universal instant messaging (www.mundu.com) that successfully combines AIM, Google Talk, ICQ, MSN, Mundu and Yahoo! with deep content collaboration across the Internet, wireless devices and platforms. The company’s flagship product – Mundu – has been a huge success worldwide. Headquartered in Mumbai, Geodesic has offices in Bangalore, US, UK, Sweden and Hong Kong.
